A New Member in our Giraffe Family

Dear Friends,

I hope this message finds you well and that your autumn has been full of joy and colour! It has been a while since we last connected, and I’m delighted to share some wonderful updates from the Arusha Giraffe Centre.

The most thrilling news? We have a new member in our giraffe family! Meet Lottie – she’s 15 months old and was rescued from the arid plains of Engaruka. Lottie has settled in beautifully! Giraffes have a unique social system called ‘fission-fusion,’ where they often change groups (called Journeys), so we were quite confident she’d be warmly welcomed by her new companions. You’ll spot her right in the foreground of the attached photo, looking perfectly at home.

And that’s not all! We now have a shiny new minibus, which means we can welcome schoolchildren from further afield and share our message of regeneration and hope with even more young minds. These incredible additions have been made possible by the generous support of the Prince and Princess of Wales and funds raised by the inspiring Blackthorn Rally, (an army veteran’s motorcycle rally). We are deeply grateful for the kindness and support from all our donors – thank you for being part of our ‘Journey’.

Looking ahead, we have big dreams on the horizon. There is a 180-acre plot of land next door that we hope to acquire. Although it’s currently treeless and barren, it holds the promise of transformation. It will be a perfect space to demonstrate the magic of regeneration to local farmers and, in just 18 months, become a haven for even more rescued wildlife.

Wishing you all a very happy festive season!

Yours ever,
Nathalie & Nicholas
